VANCOUVER, CANADA   Next Page
   Introduction

This article includes information about parts of Washington state, and the Canadian provinces, Alberta & British Columbia. Information about our time in the Canadian Rockies is certainly covered as this is definitely one of the major highlights of this type of trip, however, the overall focus of the article is about Vancouver, British Columbia.

The following article is a description of a trip that included visiting much of the Canadian Rockies and many towns and cities in Washington state, Alberta and British Columbia. Vancouver in particular is highlighted in this article. Seventeen days would be an ideal time to see all the sites and attractions mentioned below. This trip, as described in this article is best taken in the summer months, preferably during mid July to mid August plus or minus a week. The reason for this is mostly related to the good weather during that time of year. This trip allows one to see some spectacular natural scenery and also incorporates some time in the big cities, i.e. Vancouver, Seattle, and Calgary. Some of the mountainous scenery in central Alberta and British Columbia is very impressive. I scheduled my lodging ahead of time for the early part of the trip. I left the middle and end of the trip open because by that time there are

many variables on where you will be staying. There is just too much to see and some parks may take priority over others and I did not want to be locked in to a certain hotel in a particular town. I flew from California and then rented a car for the 2+ weeks.

Visitors to British Columbia and Alberta from the United States need to carry a passport and its a good idea to carry a current US drivers license. In all of Canada there is a 7% Goods and Services Tax. If you save all your GST receipts you can submit them to a duty free shop and receive an instant rebate.

First, I will list an outline of the trip, including more detail about the cities, parks, attractions and other items of interest to the potential tourist, and then the cities of Vancouver and Victoria will be discussed. Read on for our trip itinerary and details.
