This is the second time that we visit Chile
Now we can say!!!we know Valparaiso very well. we think this city is more than a nice place to visit, is a cultural experience and it would have been nice to live there. Near the sea, and very close to Viña, a great beach & park town and the exceptionally beautiful coastline of Chile. Honestly, we’re in love of Valparaíso and the hills. we’ve heards good & bad things from people but it dosen’t matter.

OK, so they’re Spanish is more than a little difficult but we came to Chile last year. speaking NOTHING, and now we can do pretty much whatever we want in Spanish, and get told I sound “Chilean” by spanish-speaking people. Chile’s a great country to travel in, from Valpo you can go pretty much anywhere without having to come into Santiago first….

we spent a couple of weeks last year exploring Valparaiso and we absolutely fell in love with it. we are not sure what you’ve already heard about it so we dont want to repeat, but it is a beautiful city built into the hills- right on the water. There’s a lot to do there and one thing I really enjoyed was the stark contrasts between Viña del Mar and Valpo even though they are literally right next to each other. Vina is really modern which is great for shopping, movies, more ‘western’ restaurants/hotels/clubs, beach, etc. and Valpo has such character with outdoor museums, painted houses, quirky bars. Living on the coast is amazing, and the city of Santiago is only about an hour away. The people in Valpo are really friendly–lots of students tend to study abroad there, so in our travel we found the people to be really welcoming of the gringos. also, great public transpo that is super cheap (much more convenient than santiago). My girlfriend and I, absolutely fell in love with the chaos and beauty of the place…and we really liked the location because it wasnt a huge polluted city like Santiago…but it was big enough to satisfy any need you had. If you decides to visit Chile, try Valparaíso yuo will never forget that city, also we recommend “la nona guest-house” our second home in Chile. Rene, the owner was great with us, good breakfast, nice & clean house, a lot of tips, orientation, the full moon horse backriding was excellent!!
