    Default Less Crowded Yosemite

Most people plan their trips to Yosemite National Park in the summer, but winter can be a fantastic time to be there. It's a little easier to get reservations at places like The Ahwahnee or Yosemite Lodge. The restaurants in Yosemite are less crowded as well. In fact, the lines and crowds are smaller everywhere. It may be tough to go this year because reservations are booked pretty solid right now. This is the time of year of the annual Bracebridge Dinner at the Ahwahnee Dining Room. But you should plan ahead and get reservations for next winter now. In addition, if you want to make a last minute trip, call and check they have reservations cancellations all the time.

I have never been to Yosemite (yet!) - thanks much for the link! It never would have occurred to me to go in winter either, so thanks for that as well

I truly agree with you Jean. Yosemite national park can be readily visited in winters if you don't like crowded streets and restaurants. In addition, you can enjoy all kinds of activities like snow-boarding, ice-skiing along with horse back riding. You can even savor the delicious cuisines prepared for the Chef's day which fall in Winters.

For historical luxury - check out the Awhanee Hotel located on Yosemite's valley floor - or if you don't stay here, at least take a walk through the lobby and grand hall - a cozy warm place to whittle away an afternoon reading a good book. And I mean book - not kindle or other tablet. Also sunday brunches and meals are very good here.
