Round the World Travel
Has anyone taken a round the world trip of at least 8 months or longer? If so, can you share a few insights into how you traveled, did you have a general itinerary, what did you do before leaving (mail forwarding, handling bills from abroad, other?)
Next year I am planning a round the world trip for at least 8-12 months, maybe longer and would like to hear from someone who has already done a trip like this.
Thanks.

Route?
Do you have a general route you plan on taking?
I plan on starting in Panama (the last C. American country I have yet to visit) and working my way down through parts of South America to Rio, flying from their to J'berg in S. Africa - visiting a few southern African countries - and Egypt and then making my way to parts of Asia.
The hardest part of taking a trip like this seems to be arranging/canceling everything that is a part of where I live before I actually leave.

Sure, I would like to travel all around the world one day. 8 months is pretty long time and have to take care of lots of time management for it.
Anyways thanks for great info.

Thrilling Travel
Just a short post as I’m pretty drained after flying home and having a cold.
I made it back home to Virginia today after 8 months traveling. The trip took me completely around the world and included these major cities (in the order visited)…
* Brisbane.
* Fiji
* Hawaii (Waikiki)
* Vancouver
* Toronto (spent summer here)
* Las Vegas
* Chicago
* New York City
* Niagara
* Montreal
* Quebec City
* Winnipeg
* Glasgow
* Edinburgh
* London
* Brussels
* Amsterdam
* Paris
* Rome
* Venice
* Florence
* Napoli
* Vouliagmeni (beach near Athens)
* Athens
* Dubai
* Singapore
* Brisbane.
That all wad a very thrilling & enjoyable experience i ever had in my whole life. I think you people must visit these places.
Best Regards

I can't imagine going away for eight months. Seems like quite an adventure. I had a friend who went away for a year but it wasn't around the world. She mostly stayed in Germany and the surrounding countries.
Drop us a note when you're back and let us know how it was. I'm sure you can pay your bills and such via online banking from wherever you happen to be.
Cheers

Talk about the trip of a lifetime. I would love to be able to travel the world for 8 months. I would have as much fun planning the trip as going on it. Maybe someday when I'm rich and retired I can travel the world with my wife. Sounds like a lot of planning.

Me too, That is also my dream. But I guess it has to wait, I would like to be able to travel with my family. As for now, my little son is too young to appreciate that. Maybe when he gets older.
