Description: Slave House on property owned by the Furnace Inn. The Furnace Inn (in the background) is a historical building which once housed a furnace for iron smelting c. 1790's in Elkridge. The slave houses have been maintained in their originality by the Inn and date from around the same time. Elkridge (in Howard County) once was a shipping port older than Baltimore City. Both the slave quarters and the Inn are located on Furnace Ave.
