Cruising the Fjords of Patagonia

February 4, 2019 by Abdul Rastagar2 Comments

Few places around the world evoke as much myth and awe as Chile’s Patagonia region. The mere name conjures imagery of pristine wilderness and raw nature, of stunning scenery and awe-inspiring mountains. This is where land meets sea, where ocean currents are funneled through narrow gorges opening to cavernous bays, where innumerable fjords and glaciers carve through rocky massifs. Surrounded by only water for thousands of kilometers in three … [Read more...]

December 16, 2018 by Dave2 Comments

I first stumbled across Vanessa Pirotta's fascinating work involving whales through Twitter. She is an Australian based wild life conservationist working with cetaceans (a word that refers to whales, dolphins and porpoises). Her investigative work has led her to locations around the world collecting various data. She is most known for her research in collecting whale snot through the use of a customized collection system carried by drones. She is … [Read more...]

Semi-Quarantine in Singapore   Or The Best Laid Plans of Men and Microbes By Joshua Samuel Brown, Special for Dave’s Travel Corner   “Mmm…yes. Tsk.” Doctor Eung shone his light into my partner’s inflamed right ear canal. “You say you flew yesterday, is it?” Stephanie nodded grimly, her face swollen in several places. “Better you had not,” said the doctor. Arriving Into Iran and the Tests of Traveling

August 21, 2018 by Dave18 Comments

I left for the Tbilisi International Airport in the country of Georgia at 10pm. I arrived at my final destination, Shiraz, Iran some 20 hours later - the next day. If you look on the map this is about a 3 to 3.5 hour flight. As it were, the airport in Tbilisi is under construction; a new runway is being built so all day flights have been moved to the night. I spent all night in the beautiful fairly new Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, … [Read more...]
