And Eneko Island is the perfect example. For reference the Marshall Islands are closer to Papua New Guinea than Hawaii, are slightly north of the equator and are located west of the international date line. Nonstop flights are available from Honolulu, Guam and Kiribati. Unless you live in these places, there are no other non-stop flights. Conveniently, the owners of Eneko Island also own Robert […]

It’s just what you decide to do with your time that determines how fast you perceive time. This is Majuro Atoll in the little visited and very remote Marshall Islands. Here are a few observations and notes from our time in the country: – The Marshall Islands became a country in 1986. – U.S. dollars are the accepted currency – It takes over an hour to drive from one end of the main […]

Wait a minute. There is vineyard and a winery in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean? The answer is yes – on the remote Rangiroa atoll, one of the world’s largest coral atolls. And certainly one of the most isolated vineyards on the planet. Today Sébastien oversees the viticulture and winemaking for Domaine Vin de Tahiti. This extremely unique vineyard is the vision of French businessman Dominique Auroy whose early vineyard experimentation […]

This country is located in the Coral Sea close to Papua New Guinea and about a 3 hour flight north east of Brisbane Australia. Typically not a cheap destination, either flights, hotels, car rental or food (which in our experiences, was basic and bland). Known as the ‘hapi isles’ for its friendly people, for its marine life, and significant World War II history. The main airport is in Honiara, the capital city. I wanted a more in depth experience so I joined a small tour hosted by Atmosphere Tours, based in Port Vila. As we left Port Vila on the only road that circles the island (built by the Americans) our guide duly pointed out the last electrical pole some few clicks outside of the city. Beyond that, the villages do not have government provided electricity and if they have electricity at all, they are using solar panels. The […]
