During these moments, many travelers turn to online entertainment simply because it is always available. Studies show that digital media use during trips averages more than six hours a day, which reflects how naturally phones and tablets fit into travel routines. Streaming video, music, social platforms, mobile games, podcasts, and online casinos are all used depending on mood and time available. These options do not require planning or fixed schedules, which makes them easy to use […]

If one were to plant a hot spring in the most remote of locations, it would be here – in Saline Valley. Certainly one of California’s most remote desert valleys and one of the state’s longest dirt roads – these hot springs are at least 3 hours from any sort of paved road. One can enter Saline Valley via either the North (Inyo mountains) or South passes (Nelson Range). Arriving from the north, the […]

The modern and state of the art Haltia “green” Visitor’s center is the self proclaimed “gateway to Finland’s National treasures) and is located about 2km outside of the park. A stop here is worthwhile for the interactive exhibits that explore Finland’s natural heritage, a cafe serving surprisingly good buffet style cuisine as well as rotating exhibits. These are the densely packed salt flats of Bonneville. Bonneville Speedway is located about 10 minutes from the 80 freeway. Motorists who do not want to deviate from this long boring […]

Perhaps known as the site of the last two bank robberies attempted by the Dalton Gang (Coffeyville was their hometown). But it is also is home to the much lesser-known Flying Wienie. Originally a Shell Oil Station, this restaurant was founded in 1999 by chef John Martin. When one drives by, its hard not to miss spotting this homey restaurant. First of all its name is catchy – but how many restaurants have a real […]

Visitors can access the park and its rim drives and hiking trails from either the north rim or the south rim. The canyon features some of the steepest walls we have ever seen – it is not the deepest canyon we have visited (that would be Colca Canyon in Peru) but for sheer wow factor, this one is hard to beat.
