I visited Port au Prince during a cruise with my parents in 1974. I was 16. It was astonishing! Such a poor country, the constant begging, the dilapitation. It was scary. We visited the Citadel by donkey. This was the highlight. This amazing site loomed in our vision as we clumped along for hours. The views at the top were amazing. No guard fences on the edge. Scary! I’m glad we went as I’ll never forget it. I still wear the mother of pearl ring that I bought there and a few beautiful wooden carved trays. A wonderful memory! Your post was fabulous!!
