Mt. Shasta City is a wonderful small mountain town, situated at the
base of Mt. Shasta along the great Interstate 5. Like other small towns Mt. Shasta City
has a small town flavor. People actually stop at cross walks for you. There are several
mountaineering stores, used book shops, galleries, and restaurants in town, among other
shops.
Because of Mt. Shasta, there are also a lot of mystical, new age organizations, and
spiritual organizations in town. In some ways this area is a Mecca for spiritual workshops
and spiritual organizations.
One other note: the town's water supply is fed by spring water and is untreated. It comes
out of the water faucets at about 45 degrees F.
