   Trekking Companies
Trekking differs from a "hike" in that trekking is is cultural. While on the trail not only are you experiencing fantastic views of awesome scenery, but you are interacting with porters, meeting people from around the world who have come to hike in the Himalayas, as well as meeting the Sherpa people. Trekking can either be organized through established trekking companies or done solo. Expect to pay more for trekking companies.

You will also need trekking permits for any of Nepal's Himalayan trails. Different colored permits are issued depending on which part of the Nepalian Himalayas that you are hiking in. The Everest route is pink colored. In order to get your trekking permit you will need two passport photos. You can get your permits at Central Immigration in Katmandu. Our guide got all our groups trekking permits at once, so no one had to individually deal with the hassle of getting the permits.
