AmandaDoes anyone have any tips or suggestions on what i should do about drinking the water in foreign countries?? i’m heading to mexico for a few weeks and am concerned about getting sick from the water. any info would be MUCH appreciated….
DaveFresh water: Def do NOT drink from the tap. Purchase bottled water where you go. No reflection on Mexico, but I’ve been there many times and unforutnately I have gotten sick – bad diarrhea or vomiting a majority of those visits, either from the water or food.
Bring some snacks also with you, dried snacks.
Hawaii AnitraYeah, in pretty much any foreign country you want to stay away from tap water. Even if it is clean, the differences in chemical make-up can turn your body for the worse. For third world countries, I keep my mouth shut while showering and also use bottled water for teeth brushing. A good practice to get in since you never know what critters can be in some of that water….:D
nomadchefI agree! Just purchase bottled water preferably a distilled water.
travelinchicaAnother option depending on your length of travel and location is the Steripen. It is a great way to purify any type of water. It was created for outback traveling.
vinnieg24yeah just prepare for a budget of bottled water it can get slightly expensive. I just recently went to cabo san lucas. The ice cubes weren’t bad tho. I didn’t have drinks without them, and didn’t get sick .
NZ-TravelWhenever I travel, First thing I avoid is drinking water from local resources. I always purchase it to avoid getting sick. Some of which I have traveled with had such problems. You will never know the climatic condition there that has direct effects on water. So it is always safe to get a sealed/branded water bottle with you.
