I’m currently on a 3 month trip of the middle east and SE Asia and just came across your post as net access is a bit spotty on the islands where I am now. Let me know what countries you are planning on visiting in CA and SA and I can give you some recommendations and possible contacts. I’ve been to all Central American countries except Panama (thats next year), and Columbia, Peru, Chile and Argentina. I love Peru and Argentina and have been to Peru a number of times.

Hi, I too have been considering travel to Central and South America. I was planning on leaving around may. I would like to travel by ground from Mexico and go threw all or most countries.
I’m in Michigan U.S. 31y/o and new to traveling.
