I love travel and I love people. Growing up I was fortunate to have experiences traveling to the Dominican Republic where my mother was from and enjoying trips to western Pennsylvania where my father was from. Having extended family in both locations, I learned of people and their cultures through their homes, their relationships, foods, music, and history.

Im Amanda, a 20-something writer and cubicle dweller constantly on the lookout for the next adventure. Dumping whole paychecks into trips around the world instead of my retirement fund.

In January of 2014 I left my office and over-priced apartment in San Francisco to discover Southeast Asia. At the time, I had no plan for where it would lead. After months of backpacking and meeting diverse people from around the world, I discovered new possibilities for making a living and enjoying life

One thing that I came to understand early in my travelling career was something an older traveller said “you can only say you’ve been to a place when you’ve bought your second tube of toothpaste there”. So in this sense, through fortune or choice, few of us can get beyond the superficial, the must-sees and the beaten path, usually due to time, money and support available. This site is primarily aimed at those who have worked in the organisation ‘at the coal face’ of travel for others, so they have a unique perspective, rarely heard.

The website is written and managed by just the 2 of us, Nick and Sarah – we are a married couple from the UK sharing a passion for travelling. The creation of Ambition Earth has been a great platform for us to share a lifelong project together, share our experiences with the world and connect with other like minded individuals with a keen interest in travel.
