Description: Really the only thing that has changed in the Medina is the addition of satelite dishes on most of the rooftops. Note the very slight splash of yellow and orange near the old walls. These are leather skins that have been dyed - now drying.

Description: Peephole for the "harems" - in the old days the women of the household would use this covered window to look down on the streets. They could see out, but those on the streets were not able to look at the women's faces

Description: These are the main tanneries in Fes. They are located at the edge of the Medina. These are incredible to visit. The traditions of hundreds of years of dying the animal skins with organic dyes continues today. You can taste and smell the acidity just by looking this photo.
