SpongieI was wondering how the drinking ages are enfourced on international flights. Example: I’m flying out of the US (where the drinking age is 21) into China (where there is no enfourced drinking age). I suspect that each airline might have its own policy regarding this because of liabilities and such, but i checked the website for Cathaway Pacific Airlines and it didnt mention it anywhere. All they said was that they had a bunch of really good wine and went on to brag about it. So i dont know whether the drinking age for the country you’re flying to is enfourced, or the country you’re flying from, or if there are no regulations because you’re in nuetral territory?
If anyone has any information on this it would be appreciated
DaveI’ve emailed my friend who is a flight attendant – he should be able to provide some clarifcation to your question. I will post his reply as soon as I hear from him.

Spongie,
My friend works for United Airlines, and since this is a US based carrier they serve alchohol only to those 21 years or older, regardless of where the plane is in the world. I suspect that is probably the policy with many major airlines – based upon their home countries legal drinking age….however, I’ve been on enough flights and have seen non US airlines serve alchohol to pretty much anyone who has asked for it.
