KathleenHello! We read your excellent article on Xcalak and have already made plans to stay at the Tierra Maya. Thanks for such a comprehensive guide.
My question: if you were going to venture to Belize, Guatemala or the Honduras while staying in Xcalak, where would you go? Any favorite spots? We don’t dive but do snorkel, and also looking for cool villages or river trips. We’ll have a car and be there for six days. If it helps with your advice, we would find places like Cancun to be the vacation from hell. 🙂

MichelleI looked in the archives for the article on Xcalak, but couldn’t find it. Please point me in the right direction. Seems like it is everything that Tulum used to be!! Our biggest concern is undertow since we are traveling with our 2 very young, water-loving kids. Any ideas re: water saftey there?? Everything I have read refers to snorkeling, fishing, even sunbathing, but nothing about swimming. Thanks!!
