Due to harsh winter conditions, the road is closed from October through mid-May, but if you have the opportunity to drive this road during the summer months, it will not disappoint. If you don’t believe us, back in 2010, National Geographic ranked the Denali […]

Mt. Katahdin has some stiff competition for the title of best hike in New England. There are a few route options for hitting all the Bonds, but the most common are starting from either the Zealand Trail parking area or the Lincoln Woods trail head and doing an out-and-back. There is also the option of doing a two-car traverse from either trail head. We chose the Zealand Trail out-and-back option mostly because it was the slightly shorter of the two. We had every intention of […]

While our bear itch had been sufficiently scratched, when we heard a rumor that there had been recent bear sightings in and around our New Hampshire stomping grounds, it was a foregone conclusion that our weekend would include another bear safari. We drove in the direction of the rumored bear sightings, and came across a couple standing in their driveway. We told them we had heard there had been some bear sightings in the area […]

Norwegian Airlines (yes that is a real airline) now has a direct flight from Boston to Fort de France for $220 which almost sounds too good to be true. Prior to stumbling upon these flights, we knew absolutely nothing about the island, but after our week-long adventure we consider ourselves experts and wish to share our new-found knowledge with any other American travelers whose curiosity was piqued by the absurdly cheap tickets they saw […]

Granted, we’ve only done two winter hikes in this park, so our opinion may or may not have any value. But that’s neither here nor there. The fact of the matter is that this hike is unbelievable from start to finish. Sure, there are plenty of higher elevation hikes in the park, but in mid-January, those 14,000+ hikes might as well require a Sherpa and extreme mountaineering experience. We’ll save those for […]
