Its always tempting to test out your bargaining skills and purchase a fake/knockoff backpack in Bangkok, especially since you can find these all over, at some Skytrain Stops, Chatajuck Market, MBK, on the streets esp along parts of Sukhumvit etc. My recommendation is don’t…unless you are looking for a short term solutions as in 6 months to a year with normal use.
I’ve gone through a number of Bangkok fake backpacks and although they visually look great when you buy them inevitably the zipper breaks, the stitches come apart the buckles break or something else goes wrong. I’ve had too many of these situations.
Finally I broke down and bought a real backpack from MBK and with major use over the past year it shows no signs of problems. I figured (too late) that in the long run I would save money by buying a nice pack now rather than keep spending money on these fakes!
