Frequent Flyer Miles

feel really dumb but my question is how do you get frequent flyer miles. I have traveled some even to Europe twice but I don’t know how to get the credit for the miles we flew. I just made reservations to Florida through Hotwire – do you know if I can still get the “credit” for these tickets?

Not sure if you figured your frequent flier miles situation out, but I wanted to let you know that right now American Airlines is celebrating the AAdvantage program’s 25th anniversary with a promotion called 25 Deals in 25 Days….there is something different everyday…there have been chances to receive bonus miles or to possibly win a car…you can see all the deals at aadvantage25.com….anyhow, hope you worked out your miles situation….

People can also earn lots of frequent flyer miles through credit cards. When you sign up for a frequent flyer account with an airline, you will probably get offers to get their credit card as well. If you are going to be making some big purchases, it does earn you a trip quickly. It’s something to consider anyway.

Probably the most direct way to go about it is by signing up for a frequent flyer program through a particular airline. Simply call the customer service number and I’m sure an automated system will eventually take you to a customer service person who will get you signed up.

One warning, though: ff programs are designed to induce loyalty to a particular airline. You end up saying, “well, a ticket on Carrier A is cheaper and more convenient, but if I fly Carrier B I’ll get to rack up more miles.” Do this often enough and you’ll have a lot of flights that are more expensive and inconvenient than you’d have otherwise. On the other hand, if you accumulate enough miles on your ff program, you’ll get a free flight every now and then. Sometimes you’ll have to do a lot of math to figure out which is the better deal.

I keep every mile from everywhere I fly. If I take an airline. I log those miles. You will probably use it again. Many of them have partners. So start with one airline and see who they are partners with and then combine your miles. It’s not that hard. Star Alliance is one. Just always sign up with the airline to get the miles. Every bit helps.

I end up using so many different airlines that I never really rack up enough miles from one carrier. I think the best idea is to have a ****** card that earns miles. Basically use your ****** card to buy groceries and gas and everything that you would normally pay for in cash or with your debit card. At the end of each month, just make sure you pay off your ****** card balance. If you do it this way, you are basically earning miles for free since you are keeping your balance at zero and not racking up interest. There are other great tips at the site that someone listed above as well as other sites. Miles have become the new coupon craze. Some people take it pretty seriously and are able to rack up lots of miles.

Yea FF miles are def the addiction of some – those who can afford to fly many times a year or those whose businesses pay for all their business travel and they have the luxury of flying business class or first with their upgrades.
