visited Dublin and some other towns in Ireland in June 2001, and here’s my suggestion: If you think of going to Ireland and Dublin especially, FORGET IT!!! Dublin is filthy (rubbish all over!)expensive and ugly city and people there are (with some rare exceptions) uncivilized hicks. The Dublin bus system is a monster, even the people in the city bus office don’t know which lines go where! As for “hotels” or B&B’s, the standard is non-existent. Plus food….greasy, fatty, ugh!!

I have travelled in most European countries, in N. and C. America, and all those have been more or less enjoyable experiences. Dublin and Ireland then were extremely disappointing. I can’t think of any any good reasons to go there. If you’re thinking of going there please think twice!!!

We have traveled in Ireland several times and visited most areas, including Dublin.. Every tip was a lovely experience. The Irish people were friendly and helpful. We rent a car and usually stay and eat in small hotels with a chef
(Not expensive if you do your homework), also, we enjoy the pub food. Dublin, like any large city has certain problems, but it is still a very interesting city, not unsafe, and well worth a visit.

It’s a damn sight more beautiful than any North American cities anyway. Idiot

North American cities can be great. But the original post seems really judgemental and uncalled for. As it was said before, every major city has it’s good and bad points. I’d like to see a city that doesnt have bad areas.

How about we not dissect each post and let people believe what they wish. And sorry, nothing in Ireland is on par with the grandeur you experience in the States.
