My fiancee and I are going to Key West for our honeymoon. We’re on a budget and would like to know if anyone has information that would be helpful. We’re young and want something close to the beach that has a shuttle service. Any suggestions?

This hotel comes recomended to me: http://www.conchhouse.com/rooms.htm

For more information visit the Key West Hotels page at: http://www.davestravel.com/articles/keywest/3.htm

The room rates tend to drop closer to the middle of the summer months.

    Good luck.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T STAY AT TRAVELODGE!
Shame on Travelodge & Suites Key West and shame on Travelodge corporate! I had a reservation for a FREE King Suite because of the “Best Rate or It’s Free” guarantee. My party of three arrived and was told that I cancelled our reservation! I did not cancel my reservation. I had all the documentation for my reservation and my confirmation number. The manager, Julixa Rodriguez treated me with no empathy or concern. After much pleading, we were given a room the size of a broom closet. Travelodge did not honor the free stay and charged me more than the original cost would have been for the king suite. When I took my complaint up the chain of command, I was told by “Robin” (605)229-8071 there was a “valid cancellation” and there was “nothing Travelodge could do to make it right”. She refused to give me the phone number or address for the legal department and she said there is nobody else I can speak with and my case is “resolved”. The only time I would suggest making a reservation at a Travelodge hotel is if you don’t mind having your room sold out from under you; being charged more money for an inadequate room; only to have the dishonest and unsympathetic customer service personnel, like Ms. Rodriguez and Robin insist that you went out of your way to cancel a reservation for a room that would have been free in the first place.

That was a funny posting about Julixa Rodriguez. I happen to be a frequent guest at that Travelodge and Suites in Key West and can honestly say she is a doll to work with. The hotel that she runs has a great view and wonderful staff. It’s always a pleasure seeing Julixa every year when I visit the keys. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HER AGAIN!!!

I must agree with the last posting… I thought the Travelodge was everything I was expecting, and I actually had the pleasure of meeting the general manager there, Julixa, and thought she was a sweetheart. She went out of her way to make my time there pleasurable and to recommend good restaurants to go to!
