I’m planning a trip to South Africa, Namibia & Botswana in January and or February of 2012. Has anyone visited any of these countries – any recommendations for what to see and do? Anyone have any connections in the travel industry?

We are def going to be doing a Safari and I want to see the orange sand dunes in the Namib desert – thanks

Looking like we will be flying to Ethiopia first and then down to J’Berg – from there going overland to Swaziland, Lesotho and Botswana. Want to visit Durban on the coast as well – any ideas for what to see and do in these countries?

    Thanks

    Hi Dave,
The Africa is rich in its natural landscapes and wildlife. If you are interested in wildlife the Namibia is the most appropriate choice for a traveler. The Etosha National Park (Namibia) and Kruger National Park (RSA) are among the largest wildlife reserve in world.
The Kalahari desert is really an attraction for the travelers in Botswana. The Kalahari Game reserve is also a great place for wildlife lovers.
For RSA the Durban itself with its wonderful beaches is a great place to visit. But Capetown is the most beautiful place here. A visit to South Africa is incomplete without visiting Capetown.

I visited Africa about 3 years ago with a volunteering group. I think you can find some organization on the Internet for your purpose.

Peat – thanks for the info – it can be overwhelming and we only have about a month. I would love to get down to Capetown – we are def visiting Durban. Namibia will be another trip. Kruger and Kalahari are musts. We will also visit Chobe in Botswana. Really looking forward to this trip 🙂

Just want to mention a really neat organization, located in Southern Mozambique – Dolphin Encounters: http://www.dolphin-encountours.co.za

I recently went on one of their “dolphin swims” – we found several pods of dolphins; these amazing creatures swam right up to us!

I visited South Africa just. You must eat there Boerewors, a hearty kind of sausage and must drink Rooibos Tea and if you like wildlife then go to e Addo Elephant National Park and Kruger National Park.
