Zanzibar – Lodging

Amaan Bungalows are located in the northern most village on Zanzibar called Nungwi. Besides the bungalow lodging, they also have three restaurants on the premises.

Annex of Abdulla Guest House is centrally located in Stone Town within walking distance to the old Anglican Church built in 1824, the Africa House (a special place for watching the sun set), and to the Old Central Market opened in 1904. All their rooms are self contained and they have certain rooms with air-conditioning. Their room rates are very reasonable – including breakfast. For more information call them at: 255 54 231312

Chapwani Private Island

The Dhow Palace Hotel is located in Stone Town – and is tastefully decorated. Check out the huge wooden beds. They also have a roof top restaurant. Please email dhowpalace@zanzibar.net for more information about availability & pricing.

Emerson Spice is located in central Stone Town. It is the second tallest building in town with a rooftop restaurant and as a result they have among the best overall views of the city. Please visit their website at: www.emersonspice.com

Mazsons Hotel is a pleasant, old-style hotel in the heart of Stone Town. All rooms are air-conditioned rooms with multi-channel TV, fridge and hair-drier. No alcohol is served.

Shooting Star Lodge is located on the eastern side of Zanzibar just a little les than an hour from Stone Town. It is family run. This is an excellent place to escape the congestion of Stone Town and enjoy the spectacular views of the Indian Ocean from the bluffs near this hotel. My friend highly recommends this place – he spent several weeks here about 2 years ago. Please visit their informative website at: www.shootingstarlodge.com

Sunrise Lodge – 12 clean comfortable rooms plus a good restaurant. Rustic. Seaside.

Tembo House Hotel is an excellent hotel. Its located right on the seafront (a very good location for watching the sun set), is beautiful inside – they have their own restaurant and they also have a good size pool. Please email tembo@zanzibar.net or visit: www.tembohotel.com for more information.

Zanzibar Serena Inn is owned by Serena Hotels – this organization operates several hotels in Tanzania and Kenya. Their hotel in Zanzibar is several stories and is in two restored seafront buildings. Again, a beautiful spot for watching the sun set. Please email: serena@zanzibar.net for more information.
