4 Silly Mistakes New Travelers Need To Watch Out For

March 15, 2016 by Anne BLeave a Comment

lax-control-towerSome mistakes might seem like they’re so obvious you absolutely won’t make them. Or will you? Being a fresh traveler there’s so much on your head that you need to remember about, it’s no wonder whenever something goes not the way it was supposed to. First of all, don’t forget about the financial aspect of your trip. Staying frugal means you can enjoy more, so look for special deals, which there are plenty of at Discountrue that will help you shop at many popular stores such as Kohls’s and provide you with a wide array of innumerable types of products on discount. When you have achieved this goal, it’s time to plan your vacation carefully – failure to do so might lead to any number of frustrating pitfalls. Being able to avoid these common mistakes that can be made by careless new travelers will make for a stressless trip, so be sure to read on and learn more!

1. Not Enough Time To Catch Connecting Flights

Finding inexpensive connecting flights is great, but only when you give yourself enough time to catch them. By leaving yourself a window of at least 90 minutes between flights, you can avoid missing your connection and/or losing your luggage in the process. While some believe that 45 minutes is enough time, this does not take into account the difficulties that can be associated with navigating much larger airports. An airline is not going to calculate on your behalf, so take the time to do so before booking.

2. Failure To Apply For A Passport On Time

Passports are not always issued quickly and failing to apply for one in a timely fashion can cost you valuable peace of mind in the weeks leading up to your vacation. It takes anywhere from four to six weeks to apply for a passport and if you’d like to avoid springing for the expedition fee, it is best to give yourself a buffer zone in case of complications. Apply for the document a few months in advance, so that you can keep your travel options open. Some countries require a passport to reach even six months of validity before allowing entrance.

3. Biting Off More Than You Can Chew

Trying to see everything at the destination you’ve chosen is a classic rookie mistake. Saying that all you need is one night in seven different locations will keep you from truly enjoying yourself. Spread your time out accordingly and give yourself an opportunity to truly appreciate each place that you visit, instead of trying to cram it all in at once.

4. Heading To Tourist Traps

Travelers who want to get a true taste of the local culture at their chosen destination would do well to avoid all of the typical tourist traps. Not only are these places more expensive and less interesting, but also they are usually flooded with massive crowds of people, and we all know that’s not anything particularly enjoyable.
