Best Horse Racing Tracks To Visit In New Jersey

Horse racing is a very popular sport with a rich history in the United States. Over the years, there are many big equestrian centers built that host some of the most prestigious horse racing events in the world.

Even though horse racing is growing in popularity over the past couple of years, not all US States are the same in terms of horse racing popularity.
If we talk about sports in New Jersey, the Jets come to your mind first. However, visitors and residents of NJ that also like horse racing don’t have any shortage of picks, with three tracks that feature harness and thoroughbred racing at its quality.

New Jersey is the home of three amazing racetracks offering thoroughbred racing, and plenty of opportunities for horse racing enthusiasts to have a blast throughout the year.
With that said, let’s go through some of the most popular racetracks in New Jersey and find out where some of the best horse racing names by TwinSpires can be seen racing in the NJ state.

Popular Horse Racing Facilities in New Jersey

Freehold Raceway
This racetrack was built in the 1830s but officially opened in 1854. It is one of the few racetracks in the United States that has a long history.

Freehold Raceway, in Freehold, is the nation’s oldest and quickest daylight half-of-mile harness racing song and domestic to the Cane Pace, that’s the first leg within the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers.

Located in significant New Jersey, within the historical town of Freehold, Freehold Raceway became hooked up in 1853 and features stay Standardbred harness races for trotters and pacers. The raceway’s season runs from August thru early June.

The racetrack is likewise open seven days per week and 7 nights for 12 months spherical thoroughbred and harness racing simulcasts from tracks at some stage in North America.

Freehold Raceway is located at the intersection of Rt. Nine and Business Rt. 33 in Freehold, New Jersey. On top of that, the racetrack is located directly across from the Freehold Raceway mall giving you plenty of opportunities to experience some horse magic and fun for every member of your family.

Monmouth Park Race Track
Nearby, in Oceanport, is Monmouth Park, which hosts thoroughbred racing. Monmouth Park has been a Shore subculture because opened its doors in 1870.

It’s also the home of the $1 million Haskell Invitational it’s held every August. On Haskell Day, admission gates open at 10 am with the first race at noon. Summing all the races, Monmouth Park hosts $50 million worth of horse races every summer.

In addition to all the splendid racing, Monmouth Park hosts several special and own family occasions. Every Sunday from midday to 4 pm is Family Fun Day Starting “On the Green” and spreading all of the manners to the picnic vicinity, visitors will discover clowns, face painters, stay track, pony rides, a bounce house, the park’s mascot Cocoa Puff and extra. This means that it is the perfect spot for some family time.

In addition, there is a playground within the picnic area and an arcade on the first round of the Grandstand. Monmouth Park has several eating options from informal concessions to upscale dining within the dining terrace.

Meadowlands Race Track
East Rutherford is home to the Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment across from MetLife Stadium, which is the home to the New York Giants and New York Jets.

Live harness racing commenced on the Meadowlands in 1976 before a gap day crowd of 42,133. Night-time harness racing changed into a direct hit in New Jersey and racing was approximately to alternate for the better.

The following year thoroughbred racing debuted at the racetrack before a crowd of 25,158. The Meadowlands Racetrack is likewise host to the area’s most popular trotting event, the Hambletonian, which has had a number of distinctive houses and was first held at the Meadowlands on Aug. 8, 1981.

This is the most popular event on this racetrack, and it is hosted on this track every year on the First Saturday in August.
