Putting Together the Perfect Travel Wardrobe

September 21, 2018 by Suzanne ELeave a Comment

Most people love to travel, but, hate to pack. For some reason, no matter how often you do it, packing is a pain. But, it need not be that way. You just need to follow the tips we have put together for you, below.

Shop well in advance
The last thing you need is to be running around at the last minute trying to find essential items of clothing. Shopping online makes it super easy for you to buy what you need without spending ages doing so. Retailers like Jacamo who sell everything from underwear to walking boots make it possible for you to buy what you need in about an hour.

Use a packing list
Making a packing list can seem like a bit of a bore, but, we advise you to take the time to put one together. You really do not want to have to waste precious time shopping for items you have forgotten. There are plenty of online lists that you can edit, so putting together one will not take you long. Once you have put yourself together your first list keep it and edit it slightly each time you travel.

Learn some packing techniques
There is a knack to packing. Knowing how to make the best use of the space available in your backpack or case and pack things so they do not get creased or damaged is essential. Fortunately, there are plenty of YT videos that show you how. We suggest that you start with this one.

Take into account the weather
Before you start packing, check out what type of weather conditions you are likely to experience. Then pack accordingly.

Pack versatile clothing
You want to be able to create as many outfits as possible from the items that you pack. Everything you put in your backpack or case should be able to be worn with several other items.

Lay everything out before you pack
The best way to check that you have everything you need is to lay it all out on the bed. Doing this also gives you the chance to check that you can create enough outfits from the items you are planning to take with you.

Try to pack lightweight clothes
When you pack lighter clothing you will be able to fit more items in. Plus, if you need to wash things out they will dry quicker.

For long trips invest in good quality clothes
If you are planning a long trip invest in some good quality clothes. This is important because everything you pack will be worn far more frequently than they would normally be.

Bare bones packing tips
The above are general tips. They apply equally whether you are planning to be away for a few days or a few months.

If you want to know how to pack light for say a backpacking trip you can find out how to do it, here. That post contains a full list of what we typically pack for this kind of journey.
