Why Now is the Right Time to Visit Zimbabwe

October 10, 2024 by Abdul Rastagar2 Comments

When people think of a holiday in Africa, chances are Zimbabwe hasn’t been top of mind for most. But my recent return trip to this beautiful southern African nation refreshed my perspective.  I was last here twenty years ago as a backpacker, and I often think back fondly of that adventurous trip. And while the country has come a long way, it’s also kept many of the things that make it such a neat experience. There’s far too much to see for … [Read more...]

Tom Brady Sold His Rolls-Royce Ghost At Auction

October 3, 2024 by Joe SafronLeave a Comment

Tom Brady sold his Rolls-Royce Ghost at auction in August 2024. Interestingly, though, the auction house did not release the final price of the sale and it is not public information. The press suggested that bidding had reached around $400,000 for the signed vehicle midway through proceedings. However, officials did not release the sale price figures in a statement, as they normally would. If the vehicle sold for a $400,000 price tag, it … [Read more...]

What to Do If You’ve Been in a Car Accident

October 2, 2024 by Joe BuoyLeave a Comment

Most people spend a lot of their time in cars. We drive to work, to get the groceries, to pick children up from school, and to go on trips and vacations. It makes sense, therefore, that car accidents are as common as they are. While most accidents are little more than fender benders that might result in a bit of embarrassment and a bill at the end of the day, some crashes can be much more severe. Here is some advice to help you avoid accidents … [Read more...]

Escape from Dachau by Kathe Mueller Slonim

October 1, 2024 by DaveLeave a Comment

This is a frightening and true story of an incredible rescue of a prisoner by a family member from Dachau (Germany's first atrocity camp) in the middle of the night in late 1938. Third Reich official Max Immanuel has already secured the proper documents to legally leave Germany but when a family member calls and requests his help in trying to rescue another family member, he has to make a potentially life threatening decision. He faces down … [Read more...]

Lazy Days in One of the World’s Least Visited Countries

October 1, 2024 by Dave4 Comments

Time moves no slower here than in Los Angeles or any other major city on the planet. It’s just what you decide to do with your time that determines how fast you perceive time. This is Majuro Atoll in the little visited and very remote Marshall Islands. Here are a few observations and notes from our time in the country: - The Marshall Islands became a country in 1986. - U.S. dollars are the accepted currency - It takes over an hour … [Read more...]

Darwin, California – October 2024

October 1, 2024 by DaveLeave a Comment

Fairly isolated, this small town has a population of somewhere between 30 and 35 full time residents (including those who live in some trailers on the outskirts of the downtown area). Today the town is a mix of various artists, characters and those who value their privacy. Straddling being a living town and a ghost town, remarkably it still exists. The residents change over the years but the town doesn't seem to grow much. Named after Darwin … [Read more...]
