Five More Airports You’ll Want to Get Stranded In

April 19, 2010 by Julia BuckleyLeave a Comment

We've already told you about five US Airports you'd like to get stranded in, but the Europeans can hold their own pretty well too. Heathrow Terminal 5, London (LHR) Heathrow gets a bad rap - and deservedly so. Terminal 1 is an under-chaired, overused hell on earth, and 2 and 3 aren't much … [Read more...]

Magical Maui

April 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Magical Maui. While Maui is a fairly small island (two peninsulas separated by a flat section) there is a rich diversity of attractions and activities to easily fill up a week. Maui is touristy yet Maui is not touristy - the contrasts between the different parts of the island are great. For those who enjoy the manufactured life on vacation including resorts, condos and or beach life with all the amenities and development should look immediately … [Read more...]

Visit Singapore – December 2009

December 1, 2009 by DaveLeave a Comment

Singapore is one of the wealthiest countries in all of South East Asia. One will discover this as soon as one arrives at the modern free amenity filled Changi airport (one of the nicest airports in the world). This is one of the most crowded nations on earth considering the actual city dominates the small island. There are plenty of attractions including arguably the city's most well-known icon, the Merlion statue, the massive Singapore Flyer … [Read more...]

Toss the camera and open your eyes. Tales from Peru

November 29, 2009 by ElizabethLeave a Comment

I just returned from watching the sun set on the sandstone cathedral in Arequipa's Plaza de Armas. I sat on the bench with ice cream cone in hand watching the trabajadores on their 3rd day of a hunger strike. Some hung on large crosses with steps to hold their weight and others lay on the ground in sleeping bags. This visual is a good entry point into the realities of South America. After so many trips to lesser developed countries I find … [Read more...]

(November 23, 2009) -- We recently attended a screening of "Up in the Air" at Paramount Studios in Hollywood featuring George Clooney as Ryan Bingham, a corporate downsizing expert whose "travel time" is threatened just as he nears his 10 millionth frequent flyer mile mark. This unfortunately occurs after he meets the woman frequent traveler of his dreams. This dramatic comedy was directed by Jason Reitman, the Oscar nominated … [Read more...]

Off the Beaten Path to Paradise

November 10, 2009 by Phyllis SteinbergLeave a Comment

It was a just a girl's getaway. We chose Amelia Island at the northernmost corner of Florida because we heard it was a lovely retreat without the usual tourist trappings of clogged roads, traffic jams and busy shopping malls with the same stores we had back home. The island is located 32 miles northeast of Jacksonville. The ride from the airport was about 40 minutes. The area which includes Fernandina Beach is well known to its closest … [Read more...]

Travel Spotlight: Jordan

November 1, 2009 by Dave10 Comments

Jordan is one of those fantastic countries that has an excellent balance between both natural and historical attractions. In this part of the Middle East everything is located "close" to one another. Jordan is surrounded by a number of countries, it is a small country itself and as a result all of the major attractions are usually within just a several hours drive of one another. The Jordanian people are very friendly and hospitable and are … [Read more...]
