Some great offline smartphone games to travel with in 2026

February 13, 2026 by DaveLeave a Comment

For most travelers, leaving a smartphone device at home isn’t an option. Alongside reading interviews with the coach and posting short clips of their escapades on Instagram, many adventurers rely on their modern-day phones to book hotels, find nearby restaurants, and purchase cheap flights. Additionally, some people can’t resist tucking into a mobile game or two when boredom inevitably sets in at times.

However, with a reliable internet connection not always guaranteed, particularly if you’re hiking in a remote area or you’re flying up in the clouds, offline games are the most suitable option for many people. Sure, you can still sample leading titles when you do have a strong connection, such as Pokémon Go and online plinko, but there are also some viable games to consider downloading for when you’re struggling to access your phone’s apps due to a weak signal.

Let’s take a look at just some of them below. It’s worth noting that some titles might not be accessible in certain parts of the world, though. Still, overall, there’s a solid selection of games featured that tend to work in most countries, given their popularity.

Dead Cells

Kicking things off with a title millions of mobile gamers have raved about since its release in 2017, Dead Cells is a roguelike-Metroidvania where taking down enemies, locating items, and making various upgrades is paramount. You will die along the way, though, but it’s all part of the learning process in Dead Cells. A game where patience is required at times, this top offline mobile release is more than suitable for travelers who enjoy combat games.

Monument Valley 2

If your days of taking down enemies with dangerous weapons in the virtual world are firmly behind you, then a charming puzzle game like Monument Valley 2 is probably the perfect alternative. This delightful title is filled with a gorgeous designs as players aim to work their way through a series of testing puzzles. As you guide a mother and her child through these unique optical illusions, you can also take in the game’s ambient music while relaxing in a comfortable corner. A stunning game to play, Monument Valley 2 is brilliant.

Stardew Valley

Some people dream of retiring to a remote location while looking after animals and cultivating crops. That’s exactly what’s on offer in Stardew Valley, a charming farming sim where players inherit a rundown farm and restore it to its former glory. With animals to care for and even relationships to forge with local people, Stardew Valley is a wonderful game to add to your smartphone device ahead of your next vacation.

Alto‘s Odyssey

A game you can dip in and out of with ease, Alto’s Odyssey is a fast-paced downhill runner with a stunning visual package. While you’re avoiding obstacles and pulling off amazing flips, players also have to record high scores and travel as far as they possibly can. A title you’ll struggle to put down once you get to grips with it, Alto’s Odyssey is a great game.

Soul Knight

Similar in many respects to the aforementioned Dead Cells, Soul Knight involves a number of intense battles in spooky locations. With dungeons to explore, weapons to find, and waves of enemies to take out, Soul Knight is a game that will keep you on your toes while offering strong doses of entertainment. Also ideal for travelers who prefer short sessions over gaming marathons, Soul Knight is a fantastic offline game to play.

Other offline games to travel with in 2026 include Mini Metro, Shadow Fight 2, Grand Mountain Adventure, LIMBO, Plague Inc, and Ticket To Ride.
