Ko Yao Noi Island, Thailand – February 2017

This little piece of paradise is located merely about 25 minutes from near Phuket on a speed boat – you can also access the island from the other side – from the city of Krabi. For being located in between and fairly close to two popular urban areas – somehow this island has escaped the pull of developers and the crowds that are found on those other mainland destinations. The locals are extremely friendly and helpful, the pace of life is slow – walking or bicycle is the preferred way of getting around parts of the island – for the “fast life” rent a motorbike. That will cost you less than $10 a day for the rental.

Popular activities including doing mostly nothing – which involves hanging out at the beach (our recommendation is the fairly remote Had Yao Beach on the north west part of the island), eating especially at some of the small often mobile restaurants located next to the beaches and hiring one of the local masseuses for a massage right on the beach. A short description of a few places we visited during our stay on the island is here.

Will definitely check out this island when we are around next time. Also heard that its neighboring island of Ko Yao Yai is worth visiting. Thanks for the inspiration!
