Notes from Dave’s India Journal

January 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Here in India, where there is land there are people. Where there are people there is trash. Where there is trash there are cows. Where there are cows there is cow shit. Where there is cow shit there are people collecting the shit and making cow pies. Such is the state of the outskirts of Agra. We drove through fields where we saw many cow pies drying in the sun today on our way to an old Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri 40 clicks from Agra. … [Read more...]

Visit Bangladesh – January 2010

January 1, 2010 by Dave2 Comments

Visit Bangladesh is certainly not a country you typically see in the tour brochures and magazines. Its not the current "hot spot" for travel and you would be hard pressed to find people who could quickly point out its exact location on a world map. However it is a country that has not been "polluted" with the bad side effects of tourism and this is uniquely refreshing in this increasingly "smaller" world where you can jump on a jet and be in most … [Read more...]

Pittsburgh Weekend Getaway

December 1, 2009 by DaveLeave a Comment

The steel industry vacated Pittsburgh starting in the mid 1980's and by the mid 90's had almost entirely disappeared. With a hold on the industry of Pittsburgh for such a long time the loss of the steel mills happened rather quickly. However the legacy of the period of steel in Pittsburgh lives on; names like Carnegie, Mellon and Frick dot the city. As a testament to the resourcefulness of Pittsburgh, neighborhoods have since been revitalized, … [Read more...]

Singapore is one of the wealthiest countries in all of South East Asia. One will discover this as soon as one arrives at the modern free amenity filled Changi airport (one of the nicest airports in the world). Travel Spotlight: Jordan

November 1, 2009 by Dave10 Comments

Jordan is one of those fantastic countries that has an excellent balance between both natural and historical attractions. In this part of the Middle East everything is located "close" to one another. Jordan is surrounded by a number of countries, it is a small country itself and as a result all of the major attractions are usually within just a several hours drive of one another. The Jordanian people are very friendly and hospitable and are … [Read more...]
