I am hoping to go to peru in early july.I realize that permits for the inca trail are just not an option. As Machu picchu is a must to visit, I understand that there are optional treks that also can go to or near enough to M.P.
Which one of these is a great option in terms of scenery and other things? I have looked at some info. on Lares,and a couple of others.No permit needed, probably less crowded, but are they as good of an experience?
I also have learned about choquequirao. I am open to hearing from traveler’s knowledge & experiences.
