Downtown Palm Springs offers excellent shopping – lining both sides of Palm Canyon Drive. Many unique art galleries are located here along with other artisan crafts. Select shopping centers in and around Palm Springs are the following:

La Plaza is located in the heart of downtown and offers an excellent selection of various shops including clothing wear. Over 30 specialty shops are a part of La Plaza including Gay Mart, a men’s specialty clothing store. This outdoor type shopping center was first built in 1936. It is quaint, historic and offers quiet courtyards and views from select roof tops. Over 20 unique restaurants are also located here. Visit: www.laplazaps.com
Mercado Plaza is a Mediterranean styled shopping center located in downtown Palm Springs along South Palm Canyon Drive. Two story center completed in 1999. Great selection of shops and restaurants including Chico’s clothing and accessories. Look for the smiling Sonny Bono statue at the entrance to Mercado Plaza (on S. Palm Canyon Drive). For some reason people love touching Sonny’s nose as evidenced by the shiny metal (and his lap is also a favorite place to sit for visitors).

The Corridor is located just north of downtown at 515 N. Palm Canyon Road. Prior to this shopping center the property used to house the Carmelita Inn and Apartments follwed by The Palm Springs Hotel. Today this corner location features a small selection of various shops including a coffee house, Chicken Ranch, a salon and a home decor shop. Parking is street side along Palm Canyon Drive or nearby on the perpendicular to Palm Canyon side street. Nice relaxing interior courtyard. Visit: www.palmspringscorridor.com
