Red Square & the Kremlin – Moscow – April 2011

April 1, 2011 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Red Square and the Kremlin are super important attractions and we went back to this part of Moscow 3 days in a row. You need at least 2 days to hit the main museums and attractions in this area and or just sit down and people watch. The Kremlin is unbelievable - with its golden spired domes, many cathedrals and amazing murals inside the curved walls of the churches. Red Square is one of the most impressive squares in the world anchored by … [Read more...]

Iguazu Falls – March 2011

March 1, 2011 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Iguazu Waterfalls are among the most amazing waterfalls on the planet. Do not underestimate the time you need here - allow at least 1/2 day for the Brazilian side and at minimum a full day for the Argentina side. These falls are spread between the Brazil and Argentina border and extend up the Rio Iguacu several miles. The only similar waterfalls in comparison are Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The massive … [Read more...]

Taras Bulba Restaurant, Moscow – January 2011

January 1, 2011 by DaveLeave a Comment

For an interesting dining experience try Korchma Taras Bulba, an authentic Ukrainian restaurant with multiple locations throughout Moscow. During one visit we found ourselves eating Ukranian food in Russia while ordering from a menu written entirely in Vietnamese. This restaurant seems to have menus in most of of the major languages of the world and the staff wanted to know what language we spoke as soon as we entered the restaurant so they could … [Read more...]

Sundarbans, Bangladesh – December 2010

December 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Sundarbans are the world's largest Mangrove swamp with the majority of this swamp being located in Southern Bangladesh. The endangered wild Royal Bengal Tiger makes its home here and is one of the major reasons to visit the swamp. You can fly or drive depending on availability. You must have a guide to enter the Sundarbans and if you are serious about seeing wildlife (tigers, board, deer, snakes, birds, monkeys etc), it is best if you go … [Read more...]

Visit Macau – November 2010

November 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Macau is a small island located about an hour's ferry ride from the main ferry terminal in Hong Kong (or about 16 minutes via Helicopter from the same ferry terminal). Macau has its own immigration and you will need your passport to enter and exit the country. Typically both Hong Kong dollars and the Pataca (local currency) are accepted. Macau was controlled by Portugal for 400+ years and the Portuguese have certainly left their mark on the … [Read more...]

Empire State Building – October 2010

October 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Empire State Building is definitely one of New York's most visited attractions. It was completed in 1931 and was the world's tallest building for many years. It still towers above the New York City skyline and from either of its two observation decks you will have stellar views in all 360 degrees. It is now New York's 3rd highest building, behind the Freedom Tower and 432 Park Avenue. You might see several ticket vendors outside the … [Read more...]

Cafe des Artistes, Luxembourg City – September 2010

September 1, 2010 by Dave1 Comment

Cafe des Artistes Luxembourg City is one of those cool nostalgic places you sort of stumble into out of the blue. In our case we stumbled into it with a friend, at night...out of the dark. Its a small piano bar located in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. This is one of those intimate and romantic places that appeals to groups of all ages. It is not large, merely two rooms with a small bar. The drink of choice here is most definitely beer. This is the … [Read more...]

Rick’s Cafe, Negril – Jamaica – August 2010

August 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

Ricks Cafe Negil Jamaica is located in the popular tourism town of Negril. In contrast to the smooth seven mile strip of the nearby "Seven Mile Beach", Rick's is perched on top of the West End Cliffs, a jagged set of rorck that affords one excellent views of the ocean. For this very reason this is "the place" to be for watching the sun go down. In addition, Ricks is also home to the cliff jumpers, a group of daring young men who jump from trees … [Read more...]

Colca Canyon, Peru – July 2010

July 1, 2010 by DaveLeave a Comment

The Colca Canyon Peru is one of Peru's treasures - a canyon so deep that only one other canyon in the world is deeper, a place so little visited yet its only 5 hours from Arequipa, Peru's largest southern city. Hiking trips can be arranged from Arequipa. Typically you can hike to the bottom from the canyon's rim in several hours along trails that switchback down the sides. The bottom of the canyon has an almost Mediterranean feel. There are fig … [Read more...]
