welcome to its beautiful here: a little glimpse into my travels of the past three and half years since quitting corporate life in sydney for a life on the road. a collection of city guides, motivated and inspired by the heartwarming, the unusual, the beautiful people and places, and the delicious food i have encountered on this special journey. as you know, travel can be exhilarating and exhausting, inspiring and intimidating all at once. but with every personal connection the world gets smaller and more navigable. i am so excited to share this with you, and hope you might find even the smallest bit of inspiration to accompany you on your next adventure.

Izaicinājums [:is-aye-tsi-nah-youms] (challenge from Latvian) is our, Peter’s and Dace’s, blog, where we share stories about our adventures and experiences. Despite the fact that beginning of “izaicinajums” reach as far back as 2009, it found its home in World Wide Web couple years later, in 2011.

Now we love to travel around the world and in meanwhile capture our adventures with our camera.

Truthfully, it’s a made-up word…loosely derived from the Maltese word for ‘travel’ and the French word for ‘wanderer’. I consider a ‘Jagabond’ to be one who bums around Europe for an extended period of time…which I was lucky enough to do for around 30 months.

After college I moved around between Arizona and California chasing job opportunities and chances to travel the US. I sensed a wanderlust in me and was proven correct when I won a trip to Australia through work. That was it. I was hooked. I began to plot solo trips overseas that not only grew my appreciation of the world, but also made me a stronger person. Traveling alone was at times very challenging but ultimately the most rewarding.
