Delhi Launches Four Tourism Circuits Connecting 21 Heritage and Religious Sites

Delhi has unveiled four themed tourism circuits linking 21 religious, cultural, and historical sites across the capital, a move designed to shift the city’s image from a brief stopover into a destination worth exploring across several days.

The Conclave Launch at Akshardham

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the circuits on August 11, 2026, at the Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conclave-2026, held at Akshardham Temple in East Delhi, according to India Today. The event carried the theme “Delhi: The Capital of Spirituality, Heritage and Experiences,” and spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev was present alongside the Chief Minister. Gupta framed the initiative as a way for visitors to engage with Delhi “as a living reflection of India’s diverse culture and traditions,” rather than ticking off a single monument before moving on. The circuits, she said, aim “not merely to connect tourist spots but to create a wider experience around spirituality, history, architecture, culture, cuisine and diverse faiths.”

A Pre-Trip Note for Visitors Planning a Longer Stay

The Rizik.hr Team, which covers online leisure and betting platforms for Croatian readers, offers a brief practical observation for those settling into a multi-day Delhi itinerary. The circuits are designed specifically to draw visitors deeper into the city and support longer stays that benefit hotels, restaurants, local guides, and small entrepreneurs. That extended time on the ground, however, does not bring home rules along for the ride.

“Croatian travelers know their domestic platforms well, but Indian law governs what is and isn’t legal in India — that’s an entirely separate framework from anything covered back home.”

Rizik, the platform many Croatian travelers recognize from back home, operates under its own domestic licensing that simply does not apply once a visitor is in India, where the legality of online play follows entirely different local rules. The point is informational, not alarming — it simply means that what is routine at home requires a fresh look once the destination changes.

Four Circuits, 21 Sites, Multiple Faiths

The four circuits are named “The Soul of Delhi,” “The Heritage of Delhi,” “Delhi’s Sacred Harmony,” and “Echoes of Delhi.” Each is conceived as a connected travel experience rather than a collection of standalone stops, threading together sites across different neighborhoods and traditions.

“The Soul of Delhi” opens at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in Connaught Place and continues through Sacred Heart Cathedral, also in Connaught Place, then Agrasen Ki Baoli on Hailey Road, Lotus Temple in Kalkaji, and Akshardham Temple in East Delhi. The route moves across Sikh, Christian, Hindu, and Bahai traditions within a single arc.

“The Heritage of Delhi” begins at Birla Temple on Mandir Marg and runs through Jhandewalan Mata Mandir, Jantar Mantar in Connaught Place, Yogmaya Mandir in Mehrauli, and Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas. The circuit spans the city’s south and central zones, mixing active temples with a centuries-old astronomical observatory.

“Delhi’s Sacred Harmony” starts at Praacheen Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place and covers Digambar Jain Lal Mandir in Chandni Chowk, the Ambedkar Memorial in Civil Lines, Purana Qila on Mathura Road, and Hazrat Nizamuddin. Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, and Sufi Muslim traditions each appear along this route, alongside one of Delhi’s oldest surviving fortifications.

“Echoes of Delhi” is the longest of the four, encompassing six stops. It begins at Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib and passes through the Buddhist Temple on Mandir Marg, the Church of Redemption on North Avenue, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Chhatarpur Mandir, and Linga Bhairavi Sannidhanam at Chhatarpur Farms. The circuit’s breadth across Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, and Hindu sites, along with one of Delhi’s most significant archaeological zones, gives it a particular range compared to the other three.

Official Vision and Economic Ambition

Both Chief Minister Gupta and Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra used the conclave to articulate what they see as the broader stakes of the initiative. Gupta pointed to rising global interest in Indian spirituality, yoga, peace, and inner well-being as forces that could benefit the city’s religious and spiritual destinations. Longer visits, she argued, would create real downstream opportunity for hotels, restaurants, tour operators, local guides, artists, artisans, and small entrepreneurs.

Mishra positioned the circuits as part of a deliberate effort to surface a different Delhi. “Beyond the mausoleums, shrines, and minarets, Delhi’s true history is imbued with the adornments of Sanatan; our government is committed to bringing that very authentic history to the forefront of the world,” he said. He also singled out the conclave’s venue as itself part of the message: “At the Akshardham Temple, those myriad aspects connected to Delhi’s cultural and architectural heritage have been depicted — those that were deliberately not mentioned until now.”

The four circuits are now defined and public. Delhi’s pitch to visitors is clear: the capital has more ground to cover than any single day allows, and the routes to do so are already mapped.
