Ahmedabad is a large city and the former capital of Gujarat, the western state of India. The blogger wanted to visit an Indian city that was both culturally and economically important in the past, as it is now. Definitely, Ahmedabad is the best place that can be visited after enjoying the grandeur of Dubai and thus, this city is chosen for spending the vacation there. Tourists should make a prior flight booking, to get air tickets at affordable prices on their scheduled dates.

Best time to visit Ahmedabad
It is widely known that winter months from November to February comprise the peak tourist season for visiting Ahmedabad. At this time, the weather remains very pleasant with mild coolness, with a daytime temperature rising to maximum 35 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature dipping to 12 degree temperature at night. The summer is quite hot here and thus, mostly avoided by tourists. Likewise, monsoon can be a bit problematic for sightseeing, with heavy downpour and rain-washed streets.

How to travel to Ahmedabad
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is very close to the heart of the city and people land here for visiting Ahmedabad. International flights from all major cities of the world are available for reaching this city, which are operated by renowned airlines. Now, another airport is supposed to be inaugurated very soon, which will be named Dholera International Airport. Plenty of cabs and buses are available to ferry passengers from the airport to their destinations inside the city. Tourists from other Indian cities can travel by train to Ahmedabad Junction, Sabarmati Junction, and the Maninagar, which are the nearest railway stations for reaching Ahmedabad city.

Gandhi Memorial Museum – It contains several items and photos to give an insight into the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi. Viewers can also have an idea about the lifestyle of that period in India.

Calico Museum of Textiles – This museum contains regional textiles of different periods, along with different types of embroideries prevailing in various parts of India. There are also many pieces of art and sculpture, traditional furniture, paintings, and craft items.

Shreyas Folk Art Museum – The art forms of different Gujarati communities are stored here. Various wood carvings, embroidery works, metal sculptures, beadworks, local costumes, paintings, and traditional utensils of Gujarati folks can be seen here.

Ahmedabad Foods That Will Blow Your Taste Buds
Since Ahmedabad is a prominent Gujarati city, there are traditional local cuisines that cannot be missed by tourists. Khakhra, Fafda, Thepla, Khaman, Dhokla, Ganthiya, Samosa, Pav bhaji, and Papad are the salty snacks that are available as street foods and also in various eateries of Ahmedabad. Kulfi and jalebi are the delicious sweet cuisines of this city that mesmerize all food lovers visiting here. Plenty of local eateries are available on the streets of Ahmedabad, where tourists can taste all these palatable Gujarati dishes.

Places to visit in Ahmedabad
Shri Swaminarayan Temple – This temple was built in the 19th century, where all the sculptures of Hindu deities are seen in green, yellow and other vibrant colors. It is also known as Akshardham Temple, where deities are draped in costly clothes and ornaments.

Sabarmati Ashram – It was the residence of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi, on the bank of Sabarmati River. It was the starting point of the Dandi March and Satyagraha movement, due to which many letters and photos of Gandhiji are displayed in the archives of the museum set up here.

Jama Masjid – This shrine complex was erected in 1424, by Sultan Ahmed Shah I. This magnificent mosque was built of yellow sandstone, following traditional Indian and Muslim architectural styles. The meshwork in the main shrine, large archways, extensive stone sculptures, and a water pool in the centre of the courtyard are the main points of interests of tourists. Shopping in Ahmedabad
Lal Darwaja Market is a popular place for street shopping, where all materials are available at cheap prices, along with numbers of street food stalls. Rani No Hajiro Market is known for traditional Gujarati apparels with lavish embroidery works, along with beautiful costume jewelries. Sindhi Market, Manek Chowk, CG Road, Law Garden Bazar, Dhalgarwad Market, Asopalav Ratanpole, and Kapasi Handicrafts Emporium are other major shopping centres of Ahmedabad.

Weekend getaways near Ahmedabad
There are many places close to Ahmedabad, where local people and tourists can spend a lovely time with their families. Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular place for sighting Asiatic lions and many other species of wild animals. Little Rann of Kutch is a reserved area for protecting wild ass, along with many rare animals and birds. Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, Saputara, Mount Abu, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Modhera are other prominent sites that are flocked by numerous people on weekends.

Nightlife in Ahmedabad
The nightlife in Ahmedabad is quite vibrant with lots of restaurants, cafes, and pubs open till late at night. Tourists may enjoy delicious dinner at these restaurants after taking a walk along the heritage area.
