Abu Dhabi, Too Good to be True?

February 1, 2024 by Dave3 Comments

I discovered Jannah Burj Al Sarab online, a property advertising itself as a 5-star hotel for the price of $39/night plus taxes (total price was $45/night). Always a sucker for deals, I immediately booked. After staying a night here I can say this was one of the better hotel deals I've gotten anywhere on my travels. Taxis and various beautiful cars were lined up waiting on the driveway next to the lobby (always a good sign of luxury), the room … [Read more...]

Experience a New Kind of ‘Snowbirding’ in Carson Valley Annual Eagles & Agriculture Brings Raptors to the Area

February 1, 2024 by DaveLeave a Comment

CARSON VALLEY, Nev. – While humans famously tend to vacation in warmer climates during winter, nature reflects a vastly different reality, especially in Carson Valley, Nevada, nestled between the Sierra Nevada and Pinon Mountain ranges and just 45-minutes south of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. In fact, bald eagles and other raptors follow herds of cows during birthing season in winter, swooping in and feasting on the afterbirth of … [Read more...]

Koh Mak Seafood, Koh Mak Thailand – February 2024

February 1, 2024 by DaveLeave a Comment

We've been fortunate to have eaten at this restaurant multiple times over multiple trips to Koh Lak. Every time we come to this island we dream of the food here for several week before our arrival. Arguably the best restaurant on the island. Both the quality of the seafood and the gentle ambiance make for a memorable meal. Located next to a small bay the restaurant extends over the water with several dining spaces. The most coveted tables are … [Read more...]

Is Ontario the Safest Online Casino Destination for Tourists?

January 31, 2024 by Essie MerrimanLeave a Comment

Among many casinos that players can experience online, the ones that provide safe fun are the most valued. It is interesting how things around us change, yet some will remain the same—the need for people to feel secure and unthreatened dates to the beginning of civilization itself. The online world offers so much fun and opportunity, but threats are also present. Online casinos attract the attention of hackers and represent perfect targets for … [Read more...]

The Bush Hotel, Farnham, The Sculpture Park

As a guest of The Bush Hotel in Farnham you enjoy the best of all worlds. Steeped in history but embracing contemporary design and offering a personal touch in the way that only an independent family-run hotel can. Surrounded by the Surrey hills and nestled in its own private gardens in the heart of this attractive historic town, the hotel still feels like it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, with its quiet and relaxed … [Read more...]

How Living with Strangers Sparked a Filmmaker’s Dream – The Story of Christoph Pehofer

January 25, 2024 by Teh Chin Liang1 Comment

The first time I heard about Couchsurfing was when I visited LA back in 2007. While cruising through the steel and glass of LA's concrete jungle in a car with David, a long-time friend of mine and the owner and editor of  Dave's Travel Corner, we were hit with this crazy idea of crashing on strangers' couches. Despite the discomfort of wrapping up in a sleeping bag on the cold living room floor, we had so much fun getting to know so many great … [Read more...]
