Paros, Greece

by Dave · 1 Comment

The sun always shines with its comforting warmth, the beaches bask in its bright glow and the people are so tan they appear almost golden. This is Paros in the summer time. With the right balance between space, tourists and infrastrucutre complemented perfectly with beautiful vistas, Paros is one of our dream destinations. Located south of Athens among numerous islands, the two nearest islands are Antiparos and Naxos. Paros (population about … [Read more...]

Paros, Greece – Attractions

by Dave · 1 Comment

If you rent a car or moped on Paros you can easily discover attractions on your own. Many small quaint towns are located in the center of the island and on the southeast side. Several beaches are best accessed by a moped because of their rugged and more remote locations. Looking for some time to relax, see Parikia, other small towns on the island while also visiting some beaches? I would highly recommend at least 5 days on Paros. Do not just come … [Read more...]

Paros, Greece – Parikia

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Parikia is the hub of Paros. The large whitewashed windmill is a prominent landmark which greets visitors when entering Parikia Bay; it stands next to the ferry arrival and departure area. This windmill's thatched roof seems to be in a state of progressed decay and its large windmill is usually just a skeleton. Typically there are several large cloths that are draped over the wood supports. Did you know that it actually snowed in Paros in … [Read more...]

Paros, Greece – Lodging

by Dave · Leave a Comment

The following are some hotels in Parikia, the largest city on Paros. Keep in mind you will see lots of hotel owners trying to lure you to their particular hotel as soon as you step off of the ferry. If you try to get lodging through them, make sure you bargain. I prefer to stay in or near Parikia over Naoussa because it is a larger city, there is more going on in town, and you are more centrally located for reaching other parts of the … [Read more...]

Audubon House & Gardens is located at 205 Whitehead Street. Phone 305 294-2116. This house was the home of a 19th century Key West Settler named Captain John H. Geiger. This building was restored in 1960. The reason it is named the Audubon House is because Mr. Audubon the naturalist visited Key West in 1832. Special exhibitions are shown in the second floor gallery. Be sure to tour the gardens where exotic plants are growing. The Audubon house … [Read more...]

Prices are listed where available. Generally the prices for lodging are quite a bit higher then in the rest of Florida, especially during the "on" season during the winter months. Prices may drop by half during the off season in the summer. However, the prices will still be quite high. Visitors to Key West should start their journey at the Key West Welcome Center located at 1601 North Roosevelt Blvd. Friendly staff provide current travel … [Read more...]

Mt. Shasta, CA – Attractions

by Dave · Leave a Comment

The following attractions are in or around the town of Mt. Shasta - or slightly further afield, but all are in Siskiyou County. Castle Crags are well worth a visit. Besides Mt. Shasta, the crags are what most people remember about their drive north on Interstate 5. These sharp rock formations rise in elevation from 2000 feet to over 6500 feet. There are over 27 miles of developed hiking trails in the Castle Crags area. Pull into the main … [Read more...]

Reno, NV – Casinos

by Dave · Leave a Comment

For those serious gamblers, for those who perhaps just dabble in gambling, and for those who don't gamble but want to see the action - Reno offers a pleasing diversity of casinos. And most of these casinos feature a large hotel, often in a separate building from the casino (sometimes connected by walkways). The majority of the casinos feature doors that must be pushed open - and once you push through a second set of doors, you are deposited into … [Read more...]
