Istanbul was my first primary destination; that winter the city experienced record snowfall. But the hotel’s recent $16 million renovation elevated what was once a hum drum business class hotel into an entirely new realm featuring historic connections to the surrounding community accompanied by onsite restaurant and local favorite Matadora. Woburn Massachusett’s legacy of foot wear craftsmanship dates back to the 17th century when production was so […]

Tel Aviv is only about 45 minutes away with its seaside location, and makes a good entry point into Israel – yet the feel in Jerusalem is decidedly different despite being so close geographically. People come from around the world here – a number of them religious pilgrims, reverent at seeing what are often among the most important sites to their particular region, […]

The weather is temperate most of the year and the waters are usually calm and clear, so it’s a perfect destination for swimming, snorkeling, watersports, photography, sunbathing, and sheer relaxation. Of course, being an island that’s literally surrounded by beaches makes choosing which spots you’re going to see first a rather tricky process, especially if you don’t want to miss anything good! While it is a fine holiday for those seeking natural gifts of the aquatic sort, if you live to eat, this nation of 700 islands is a foodie destination par excellence. Nassau and Paradise Island are ground-zero for epicureans looking to titillate their taste buds. Many have read the enjoyable novels written by Peter Mayle, visited anything Van Gogh in Arles and mused over the paintings of Cézanne. Everybody knows all areas of the Provence, or so they believe. There is a part of Provence less famous and therefore much less crowded than the Lubéron and the Midi. It is not a fancy area with famous wines or Michelin star restaurants but it breaths the country in the most natural way I’ve ever come across. […]

A solitary horn echoes down the narrow alleyways. The pitch is not perfect and it is disjointed in sound. Perhaps it comes from a young student. Or maybe an older person wanting to explore a musical passion for the first time in their life. Irregardless of who is playing, I follow the sound and spend a few minutes listening under the second story window while resting in the shade. The stone walkways are eerily empty now. […]
