Venice Areas in Brief

August 8, 2012 by Hans BeltranLeave a Comment

Venice is an amazing old city with traditions dating back to ancient times. One, for example, dates back to 1711, when the city was divided into six "sesteri" or districts for tax purposes. Those districts have changed little since the time they were formed. Venice is an amazing old city with traditions dating back to ancient times. A Lure to the Distillery District in Toronto: Stirling Room

July 30, 2012 by Habeeb SalloumLeave a Comment

On my way to Stirling Room, strolling down a brick-paved street edged by charming restored Victorian-era buildings of Toronto's Distillery District, I felt that I was in a previous age - a time when the upper crest of society enjoyed culture and life more fully at a slower pace than our busy life in this modern age. From their times we today can relish the renovated Victorian architecture in its pedestrians-only aura - no modern traffic to mar … [Read more...]

Dropping onto Saipan

July 16, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

Dropped into Saipan in the dead of night - starry skies, the blackness of the sea greeted us - disturbed only by the lights emanating from this small island. I had only done cursory research before our visit here and after speaking for nearly 2 hours to my seatmate who lives here now - I wasn't really sure what to expect. He spoke of sweat shops (now extinct), high alcoholism, a hub for smuggling drugs in from China, unemployment, gambling … [Read more...]

From Jasper’s Icefields To Maligne Lake: A Panorama of majestic Colours

July 15, 2012 by Habeeb SalloumLeave a Comment

"You want to see the Jewels of Jasper National Park!? I suggest you take two tours: one to the Columbia Icefields; and the other to Maligne Lake. They are two gems set in one of the most beautiful spots on earth," a resident of the town of Jasper advised when I asked him what were the most important sites to see during our four day stay in one of Canada's most charming parks. Photo credit: Jasper Tourism I thought of these renowned … [Read more...]

Meredith – New Hampshire

July 5, 2012 by Paul KandarianLeave a Comment

If you're at all familiar with the Lakes Region in New Hampshire, then chances are you know the town of Meredith. Or did know it. If you haven't visited the tiny little community on Lake Winnipesaukee in the past 20-plus years, chances are you wouldn't recognize the place. What was once a sleepy little mill town - where an asbestos factory once loomed and was mostly just a cut through to the White Mountains – is now a bustling tourist … [Read more...]

Wedding Celebration, Chennai India

July 5, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

After a busy few days spent shopping for clothing for the event - sari's, shoes, long colorful flowing robes etc - we now have our appropriate Southern Indian wedding ceremony attire. The celebration went off without a hitch - one of India's most famous violinists (T. N. Krishnan) and his daughter took the stage for over an hour with hypnotizing music. Hundreds of people came to celebrate the joyous occasion! … [Read more...]

Pre Wedding Ceremony Preparations, Chennai

July 1, 2012 by DaveLeave a Comment

After a hectic few days bouncing around the planet, we find ourselves in Chennai India. Today was a fun Henna party - and then shopping for Sari's. This city is chaotic on the streets - but so far not nearly as much as our experiences in some of the larger Northern Indian cities. … [Read more...]
