In addition to the Getty Center and the Getty Villa we have also visited 130+ Los Angeles area museums and continue to add and update this epic page here Getty Center is one museum well worth visiting during your time in Los Angeles and is one of the premier museums of Western European artwork in the Southland. It is located off of the 405 freeway at 1200 Getty Center Drive. As you are driving north on the 405 you can't miss it; it … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – Colleges and Universities

by Dave · Leave a Comment

These are a few of the universities that we have visited in Los Angeles and vicinity. Additional universities will be highlighted here over time, as this is by no means an exhaustive list. Cal Poly, Pomona is located just south of the 210 Freeway in Pomona. Originally a satellite campus of what was known then as California Polytechnic School in San Luis Obispo - the two schools became separate entities in 1966. One tradition however did not … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – LA Stadiums

by Dave · Leave a Comment

The following prominent stadiums and arenas are located within the greater LA and Orange County metropolitan regions. We have also reviewed many venues & theatres here. Angel Stadium of Anaheim (or "the Big A") is located at 2000 E Gene Autry Way just off of the 57 freeway in the heart of Orange County just a few miles from Disneyland. Similar to how the Oakland Coliseum is located next to the Oracle Arena up in the San Francisco Bay Area, … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – California Missions

by Dave · 4 Comments

California has a total of 21 Missions running from San Diego to Sonoma ranging in date of founding from 1769 until 1823. The intent with each mission location was historically to place each one approximately a days journey between each other. Greater Los Angeles and Orange County have three representatives of these, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Mission San Gabriel Archangel (the closest mission to downtown Los Angeles) and Mission San Fernando … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – Koreatown

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Los Angeles, CA – Koreatown lies in the western backyard of downtown Los Angeles and from this vaguely defined "town", on most days you can easily see downtown Los Angeles (unless its too smoggy of course). This is one of the more densely populated regions of Los Angeles as a result driving can be a real challenge here. Parking lots at the small 2-story malls are very limited, with narrow space, narrow lanes and exits. Trying to turn left is … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – Little Saigon

by Dave · 10 Comments

Little Saigon is located in the town of Westminster in Southern Orange County between the 405 and the 22 freeways (with good traffic about 45 minutes south of downtown LA). This is NOT a small town. It is predominately a Vietnamese community and is one of the largest Asian communities located anywhere in the USA. If you are not of Vietnamese heritage and you are in some of the stores and shopping districts in Little Saigon, chances are you will … [Read more...]

Los Angeles, CA – Los Feliz – Franklin Hills

by Dave · Leave a Comment

Los Feliz & the Franklin Hills are perhaps names that probably do not come to mind when you refer to Los Angeles. They are little known outside of Los Angeles but these neighborhoods contain beautiful homes. Los Feliz Village is centered along Hillhurst Ave and contains a number of restaurants and boutique and unique shopping experiences. Parts of Franklin Hills feels like San Francisco. Numerous celebrities and actors live in these small two … [Read more...]

Palms Thai Restaurant, Hollywood, CA – March 2006

March 1, 2006 by DaveLeave a Comment

Palms Restaurant Hollywood CA - The Palms Thai Restaurant without a doubt is one of the top Thai restaurants in the entire state of California. This is a bold statement, but I feel qualified to say this after having eaten at at least a hundred Thai restaurants in Thailand, many Thai restaurants in other countries around the world, and over 50 Thai restaurants in the state of California alone. The food here for both lunch and dinner is very … [Read more...]
