So, how do you find the right
travel insurance policy? There are often so many to choose from – many
levels of cover, loads of different companies and prices ranging from the
sublime to the ridiculous. To help you out, here’s a few things you should
look out for so you can find the
cheap travel insurance policy that’s suitable for you.
Policy type–Not
all policies are the same. You’ll often see the phrases “single trip” or
“annual multi-trip”; what do they mean? Well, a single trip policy is
designed for the one-off holiday. If you’re going away just once this year
then this is the policy for you. They can cover anything from a 3 day trip
to France to a 12 months trek across the globe.
However, single trips are not so
great if you’re planning on taking more than one or two trips this year.
That’s where annual multi-trips come in. An annual policy covers multiple
trips within a 12 month period – meaning you can go away as many times as
you like, while having just one policy to cover all your trips. Not only are
they more convenient than single trips, they’re also cheaper.
Cover level
– Most companies let you choose how much cover you want with your policy.
This usually comes in the form of cover levels, which are usually named
things like Silver and Gold, or Basic and Premier. It enables you to buy
only the cover you need. If you’re taking a lot of personal items away with
you, or your holiday cost quite a bit, you can choose the higher cover
level. However, if you just need the basic cover, then you can choose the
lower cover level.
Extra options–Most
policies come with extra cover options for things like baggage and money,
golf clubs and business equipment. It’s always important to check before you
buy your policy whether this cover is included or whether you have to pay
extra for it.
Price–This
price of your policy is very important. There are many companies out there
that charge far too much for cover that ranges from adequate to completely
useless. Always make sure you shop around to find the best deal and don’t
forget to read the policy terms and conditions carefully. It’s important to
know that you’re getting the right cover for your money. |
