About Naomi Dalton

http://www.howtobogota.com

I’m Naomi from south-east London, UK. I'm a writer, blogger, teacher and translator and I moved to Bogota, Colombia, in October 2013.

I’d lived in Argentina and Mexico before, and I didn’t find it too difficult to adapt to life there. However, during the first month or so in Bogota, I felt disorientated and overwhelmed, to say the least! I really could have done with a ‘Bogota handbook’ to help me find my way in this chaotic metropolis! So once I was more or less settled in, I decided to start a blog about life in Bogota - www.howtobogota.com - which includes tips and advice about all manner of things, as well as commentaries about my perceptions, experiences of and adaptation to life in Bogota.
At heart I'm a writer with artistic qualities, and dedicate much of my time to writing, blogging, guest-posting and exploring the city for new stories!

If you wait for people to get off before you … [Read more...]

Living in Bogota: My 5 Colombian Identities

February 26, 2015 by Naomi Dalton1 Comment

I’ve been living in Bogota, Colombia for over a year now, having moved here from London for my Colombian partner, and something I’ve noticed is the way in which identity is defined; since moving here I have taken on a number of identities which just didn’t matter or exist when I was in London. Not that we don’t categorise people there too – for example, a person’s age, ethnicity and the part of London they’re from can tell you a lot about them: … [Read more...]

How to spend 48 hours in Bogota

February 17, 2015 by Naomi Dalton2 Comments

Many travellers will arrive in Bogota with the intention of  staying for a couple of days before moving onto somewhere else... Cartagena, Santa Marta, the Coffee Region. So in case you happen to be spending just 48 hours in Bogota (let's say a weekend) here’s a suggested itinerary (with alternatives suggested in the event of rain!): Saturday 8.00am: It’s Saturday morning and chances are you’re staying near the historical part of Bogota (the … [Read more...]
