Club Med Villages at a Glance, Guest Post

September 1, 2012 by Dave1 Comment

No two destinations are exactly the same, so it’s no surprise that Club Med villages have stayed away from a “cookie cutter” model. There are a few items you’ll find at every village and many different types of villages to choose from.

What You’ll Find at Every Village
CM has been around since the 1950s, and in that time have established a more-than-just-popular resort routine. Here are some elements you’ll find in every village.

GOs: The staff members, known as GOs (Gentils Organisateurs—which means “kind organizers”), fill the normal roles of resort staff but are also part of the playing, dining, drinking, dancing, and entertainment.

Social atmosphere: Regardless of the village, you’ll find the resort is set up to encourage you to play, chat, and unwind with your fellow guests.

Daily events: You will find around-the-clock events at each village. The events can be anything from elaborately choreographed dance shows to sailing lessons to guest performances.

The Different Village Types

Here are a few of the major village types:

Singles resorts

These resorts often involve indulgent spa services, a club atmosphere, outdoor sports, and the opportunity to lounge on the beach.

Family resorts
Many CM resorts offer a “Children’s Club” that keeps your kids active and entertained while you enjoy the resort’s luxury.

Ski resorts

If you’re looking to enjoy your own winter wonderland, then these ski villages will give you options for every variety of winter sport. The most appealing element is that the club is just a few steps from the slopes.

Sports villages
These villages specialize in specific recreational sports, such as golf or tennis. In addition to gorgeous courts and greens, these clubs offer professional instructors and access to top-class equipment.

Beach resorts
These villages are positioned on some of the most stunning beaches on the world. Water sports and scuba diving are part of the experience.

Eco resorts
For those who are more adventurous than luxury-obsessed, these villages situate you in stunning natural locations around the world. Feel free to wander the wild or take tours of these exotic destinations.

Even with these general categories, each location has a personality all its own. You can find out more by checking into the specific destinations.
