Lonely Planet Thailand by Suzanne Nam is our most visited country outside of the USA so when the latest version of a new Thailand guidebook pops up on our radar we take a close look. In this case it is the 4th edition from Moon Handbooks and Bangkok resident Suzanne Nam. This book has great detailed maps, recommended 5 star restaurants and hotels for 3-star prices, listing of the best beaches, itineraries, a Thai phrasebook and much more. Attractions and other items of interest are listed in English as well as in Thai. This is invaluable when trying to point out to a Tuk-Tuk or taxi driver where you want to go as in our experience, saying the name of the attraction in English is not always understood. This way just point to the name in the guidebook!
Accommodations are listed by price ranges, providing quick reference for budget to luxury travelers. Be sure to read the Essentials section located in the back of the book. This is section covers many of the important items you need to know before and during your trip.
