I am going to Peru this month (my 7th trip to this fascinating country) – I would not hesitate to travel most anywhere in the world right now as the media as with SARS has completely and utterly blown the swine flu out of proportion.
In fact this is even a better time to travel as people without brains cancel their travel plans and free up space on the plane and in hotels and forces hotels to lower their costs. Some of the best deals I found in Asia were right in the middle of the SARS epidemic.
In response to the best time of the travel, there is no “best time” to travel to Peru as because Peru is so varied geographically it really depends on the location you will be visiting. If you are going to the mountains the “best” season or rather, dry season is from May through September – clear days warmer weather. This time of year parts of the coast can be socked in with the annoying always dark fog. The jungle can be warm regardless of the time of year.
