PeruTravelerHello,
I am a independent tour guide to Peru and have a trip leaving each August from August 19-26. Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding Peru travel, including hotels, transportation, weather, and other related travel questions.
If you are interested in an escorted tour, please check out the http://www.peruforless.com/margot page for more information.
Thanks for the post – I´ve also been to Peru a number of times and have traveled throughout this amazing country. I´ll be back in a week or so to do some trekking in the Cordillera Huayuash region.
If you have any questions about Peru, also feel free to post here or email me.
Regards,
Dave
travelinchica:confused: I will be in S. America Jan and Feb. I am starting in Peru and then I don’t know. I’m meeting some friends for 2 weeks in the beginning and then I am on my own. I’m trying to decide if I should stay in one country and really get to know it or see a few. I’m considering adding Chile and Brazil. I speak Spanish, but not Portuguese, so I don’t know if it will be a problem. Suggestions?
Chile is nice – especially in the summer which sounds like when you will be there (Jan & Feb) – if you go, head to the Patagonian south region. One country I highly recommend is Argentina – great food, affordable, and lots to see. Buenos Aires is very European and Mendoza is also quite nice – sitting in the shadow of the high Andes.
Also if you need any recommendations about what to see and do in Peru – I’ve been there a number of times.
Regards,
Dave
iancruz06Good luck on your trip!
frank464Chile and Argentina are nice – it can get damn cold in the Andes and ski resorts during the winter.. but Mendoza has fairly mild climate even in the winter and some incredible clear days.
TerryWalkerHi guys, I am looking to travel to Peru next year (after the swine flu has gone!!)
When is the best time of year to travel?
I have been speaking with a travel agent there called http://www.totallyperu.com has anyone booked with them?
Thanks for your help.
I am going to Peru this month (my 7th trip to this fascinating country) – I would not hesitate to travel most anywhere in the world right now as the media as with SARS has completely and utterly blown the swine flu out of proportion.
In fact this is even a better time to travel as people without brains cancel their travel plans and free up space on the plane and in hotels and forces hotels to lower their costs. Some of the best deals I found in Asia were right in the middle of the SARS epidemic.
In response to the best time of the travel, there is no “best time” to travel to Peru as because Peru is so varied geographically it really depends on the location you will be visiting. If you are going to the mountains the “best” season or rather, dry season is from May through September – clear days warmer weather. This time of year parts of the coast can be socked in with the annoying always dark fog. The jungle can be warm regardless of the time of year.

Dave
I’ve also posted the Totally Peru link under our Peru page – linked from our main Resources page.
Thanks.
