Thanks for sharing Matt. Yea Thailand certainly has a few of these “lusty nightlife” areas – the most intense I experienced was in Pattaya. I’ve been to Bangla Road in Phuket and also Patpong in Bangkok (which can be a bit intimidating later at night).
Violet – yes, we saw all those places you mentioned – I was going to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge but it was a little pricey – but then looking back, I think “how many bridges in the world can you actually climb legally”?! I look forward to another trip to Australia – this time I want to explore Melbourne and the Barossa Valley.
I would have the basics – tetanus, hepatitis A and B. I’m not aware of any special vaccines needed for travel to Israel (say compared to some of the tropical destinations). Also may not want stress that you are American if you go to Syria.
Amitsoni – thanks for sharing your comments about Mumbai. I’ve heard the temperatures get pretty warm there during the hot season!

For historical luxury – check out the Awhanee Hotel located on Yosemite’s valley floor – or if you don’t stay here, at least take a walk through the lobby and grand hall – a cozy warm place to whittle away an afternoon reading a good book. And I mean book – not kindle or other tablet. Also sunday brunches and meals are very good here.
